A couple methods to disable* Magnetic Locks

Paper and tape.

Taping a couple pieces of paper between the armature and the magnet housing can prevent the completion of the electromagnetic circuit.

Armature bolt removal.

Looking on the backside of the door where the armature is located, there is typically a round headed bolt about the size of a quarter.

If you can grasp the edges of the bolt with a pair of locking pliers, you may be able to unscrew the bolt from the outside.

It is also possible to grind off the head of the bolt and then simply pull the door open.

Fire Alarm.

In all but a few special cases, magnetic locks are required to be tied into the fire alarm system for Life Safety reasons.

When the fire alarm goes off, so does the power to the magnetic locks. The power will automatically be restored when the fire alarm is reset.

Disconnect power.

If you can locate the power supply, you can disconnect the power wire, ground wire or pull the fuse.
